1926 $10 NGC AU53 GCAC

At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, sometimes a collector can rationally decide to buy the sticker and the holder instead of the coin.  I am unabashedly admitting this right here.   This coin is cool too since it is a big hunk of gold, but even a novice numismatist knows that 1926 Eagles are not rare by any stretch of the imagination.  Just in MS63, a collector could can choose from approximately 30,000 graded examples.   Conversely, just five 1926 eagles received a gold sticker, and this one of them is in an old fat slab no line holder.   I priced it at MS63 money.  And if it assuages your guilt, I’d buy it back at $1350 any day and all day with gold between 1600 and 1900.   Live a little, will ya? 🙂
