1908 $2.5 PCGS XF45
The first of four really nicely toned Indian quarter eagles that I purchased raw locally. Dusky pink and purple hues highlight the obverse while the reverse is about as crusty as one could possibly imagine. In hindsight I should have acetoned this coin in the ultrasonic and then taken off the black with a Q-tip, but I wanted PCGS to see all of the coins exactly as I got them since sometimes they are inclined to question the color as artificial. The coin remains a great example of likely leather pouch toning and is a wonderful find for the collector of toned gold.
