1907-S 50c PCGS XF40 CAC
07-S Barbers have been recognized by specialists for quite a while to be a much better date than most casual collectors realize, especially in gem grades. They are also brutally hard to find in original attractive mid grades and seem to come scrubbed up even more so than other dates in this tricky series.
The CAC population backs up this observation, with a mere 32 coins approved in all grades, including just two in XF40. This particular piece is medium grey with nice contrast in the devices that provides lovely eye appeal. A great opportunity for the astute collector.
There have been no CAC auction records in XF, but a VF35 CAC sold way back in 2011 for $575 while an AU50 brought $763 in 2017.
