A wonderful wholesome toned example of this more common Swiss Shooting Thaler from the Italian influenced town of Lugano. While this issue is among the later more available shooters from Switzerland, finding one that is appealing can be difficult.
The high relief of this design on the obverse usually results in serious damage to the thigh of Zeus. This piece is an exception, as is the delicate original toning that enhances the eye appeal significantly. I purchased this in an NGC holder but thought it was better than the MS65 grade assigned. PCGS agreed that it was choice as well and gave it a “plus” grade.
If you are looking for a lovely affordable example of this design for under a $1000 this is likely your coin. The higher grades get much more expensive quickly and likely will not rival the eye appeal of this specimen.
