1880 $5 PCGS MS64+ CAC

Liberty gold of the 4 major denominations likely represents the best place in today’s market for “pickers” to find issuances that represent great value/rarity opportunities.   I think a case could be made for half eagles being the most target rich environment of all in this regard.   This 1880 half eagle is a great example.  This coin is 5 to 20 times as rare as a common type coin but trades for only a 10-20% premium in the market.   There are at least 15 other date and mintmarks that fall into this category just within the motto series.  I’m pleased to offer this one as a great example.  Very frosty and eye appealing with the kind of skin that you see on even higher graded pieces.  A few bag marks hold back the grade.   Sure to please your numismatic eye.
