A final difficult P mint seated coin, this time a dollar, in this week’s offerings. Most casual collectors see 1860 on a seated dollar and think “common”. This is largely due to the sister mintage in New Orleans for the date. Some collectors don’t even know that the P mint was made until they pick up the redbook! One need only look at the CAC population to see the drastic difference in availability. 27 in all grades for the P mint. 183 for the O mint. And the price difference is only about 25%. This is a lovely mid grade piece with light peripheral toning and good skin. A real find!
